Rates of violent crime in the United States are higher than in Western Europe, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand. Draw on as many of the theories discussed in the chapter as possible to explain why the United States is such a comparably violent society. The shootings which are taking place in the different American schools have become rampant as well as recurring. One example could be the Virginia Tech shooting and this crime can be categorized as campus crime (Schaefer, 2015).
